Marine Weather

Live marine map, forecasts at a tap, and buoy or METAR pins.

Map

• Pan and zoom the map. Your location appears when you allow Location in iOS Settings.
• Buoy stations show live NDBC observations. METAR adds airport weather pins where available.
• Premium: optional reefs, wrecks, and notable pelagic pins for planning context.

Forecasts

• Tap empty ocean, a buoy, waypoint, or structure to open the spot forecast sheet.
• Free tier: first 3 forecast days using NOAA GFS. Premium: full run, model picker, compare models, and Personalized Forecast for your boat.
• Set up your boat under Settings → Boat, Specs & Home Port for comfort scores and go/no-go hints.

Ocean Charts

Satellite ocean layers and depth for situational awareness — not navigation.

• Tap Layers to toggle SST, chlorophyll, bathymetry, seafloor relief (Premium), and structure pins (Premium).
• Some layers exclude others (e.g. SST vs chlorophyll). The last one you turn on wins.
• Tap the map to sample temperature/depth and save waypoints. Use the ruler for distance measure.
• Charts require a network connection. Always carry official nautical charts for navigation.

Analyze

Habitat-style hotspots from satellite ocean data for a species and trip you define. Premium.

• Type a target species and choose your departure inlet and max range (nautical miles).
• Tap Save Plan & Refresh Map to run the analysis.
• Green circles are strong SST matches; yellow are marginal. Tap a highlight for reasoning and satellite context.
• Output is educational guidance — not a guarantee of catch or safety.

Regulations

Bundled Atlantic and Gulf saltwater rules. Premium.

• Search SwellSnap’s species list or filter the reference index by jurisdiction.
• Match state rules to your location or pick a state manually for state-water lines.
• Always confirm size, bag, season, and gear limits with NOAA, your state agency, and local notices before fishing or retaining catch.

Settings

• Boat & Home Port — personalize forecasts and set your default map area.
• Fishing Weather Notifications — local alerts when the outlook looks strong for your boat.
• Waypoints — import/export GPX, KML, and CSV coordinate lists.
• Units — distance, depth, temperature, and wind speed preferences.
• Upgrade to Premium — manage subscription through Apple’s App Store.
